Mario Green, 53, of Detroit, was taken into custody early Saturday on suspicion of fatally shooting his ex-wife, Latricia Green Brown, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Police said the arrest happened without incident shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Lemay Street, as reported by ClickOnDetroit.
The deadly confrontation happened on Friday, in the basement of the hospital, which led to a lockdown and search of the facility, according to Detroit Free Press. Detroit police, with help from the ATF, MSP, and FBI, arrested Green. During the search, police located a white Dodge Charger believed to be Green’s vehicle and had it towed.
Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said, "Our officers worked tirelessly to get this monster off the street. No person deserves what happened to Ms. Latricia Green, and my heart and prayers go out to her family," following the fatal shooting of Latricia Green at a Detroit hospital, which police identified as a domestic violence case. Green had a personal protection order against the suspect, Mario Green, that had not yet been served. He had prior cases involving aggravated stalking, arson, and domestic violence charges that were later dropped. A colleague, Tamara Canada, said, "She's really a good person. She's a really good person, she don't mess with nobody or nothing," as mentioned by FOX 2 Detroit. Authorities are investigating how the suspect entered the hospital with a firearm, as well as the circumstances leading up to the incident.
