Residents and visitors of Douglas County, take note: local government offices are set to take a brief hiatus come early September. As stated by Douglas County, all Douglas County Government offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Those requiring government services should plan to adjust their schedules accordingly, as offices will not reopen until Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Along with the government offices, if you're planning to catch a ride on the Link on Demand service during the long weekend, you're out of luck. This service is also going to be non-operational, not running on both Sunday, Aug. 31, and Labor Day itself, Monday, Sept. 1. Services will resume, however, at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. This temporary shutdown aligns with many public service schedules during national holidays.
For those fretting over the holiday disruptions, Douglas County has a silver lining. Many of the county services remain accessible online, available 24/7. So even while the physical offices are closed, residents can still, for instance, renew their license plates. This can be done either online or at various kiosk locations throughout the county, providing a convenient workaround for those potentially affected by the closures.
