Eden Prairie residents looking to mingle with their local safety officials have a fresh opportunity on the horizon. According to the City of Eden Prairie's announcement, the next Coffee with a Cop event is set for Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Round Lake Park building. This time around, Eden Prairie's Police and Fire Departments are joining forces to engage the community over complimentary java and sweets, courtesy of the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund.
For folks who can't swing by in the morning, the day holds another casual meetup. Running from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., a Pop-up Splash Pad event will unfold at Forest Hills Park, located at 13708 Holly Road, where residents, assisted by the Parks and Recreation Department, can beat the heat and catch up with the men and women serving in uniform. It appears to be an affair striking a chord with families, especially given that the late summer sun is still high.
At either gathering, "there is no agenda or presentation," the city's post points out. Instead, these initiatives seem rooted in the simple but important act of familiarizing Eden Prairie folks with those sworn to serve and protect them. Such accessibility offers a unique chance to chat up Police Chief Matt Sackett and Fire Chief Scott Gerber, among other officers and firefighters.
Those interested in keeping abreast of similar gatherings can expect future announcements to be shared on Eden Prairie's blog and social media accounts. "We hope to see you there!" expresses the hopeful spirit encapsulated in their outreach efforts. As summer continues to roll, with community events like these on the docket, it appears that Eden Prairie is fostering a camaraderie rooted in the very grounds upon which its citizens walk, talk, and now, casually sip coffee.
