
Early morning yesterday, tragedy unfolded at the El Paso County Jail when a 37-year-old male inmate was discovered unresponsive in his bunk. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, deputies and medical staff immediately attempted to revive him.
Responding at approximately 4:38 am, the American Medical Response (AMR) and Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) medical personnel took over the man's care, arriving shortly after the deputies had found him. Despite their efforts, at 4:57 AM, they pronounced the individual deceased.
The Sheriff's Office has extended its sympathies to the deceased's family and friends, indicating in their announcement a sense of shared grief and loss. Sheriff Bill Elder has committed to a thorough investigation, looking to unfold the sequence of events that culminated in this death without signs of self-harm, assault, or foul play.
