Heads up, El Paso ISD staff: mark your calendars for a date with your health. The district's 2025 Employee Health Fair is landing on Tuesday, Sept. 9, an event from 4–7 p.m. at the Starlight Event Center in the Rio Grande Summit Room. The announcement, picked up from the district's latest press release, promises an array of free health-focused services and screenings for attendees. All without the add-on of your usual medical bill.
In an initiative spearheaded by the Benefits Department, the health fair rounds up a variety of vaccinations, including flu, COVID-19, pneumonia, Tdap, MMR (measles), shingles, and RSV, an impressive lineup in an era where the next health scare is a news cycle away. And in keeping with the preventative theme, employees can also avail themselves of health screenings that range from glucose and cholesterol checks to blood pressure and BMI measurements, plus assessments for diabetes risk, knee and injury issues, vein conditions, and even spinal and neck evaluations, according to El Paso ISD.
But it’s not all needles and numbers. Those joining the event can look forward to the less clinical but no less crucial offerings like free massage therapy. Wellness vendors are also setting up shop, ready to connect with employees over their products and services. And of course, the district is sweetening the deal with giveaways.
The invitation extends to all members of the El Paso ISD family. Whether you're a first-year teacher or a long-serving cafeteria worker, the district seems to recognize that the backbone of a strong educational system is the health and wellness of its people. With such a broad selection of health staples on tap, El Paso’s educators and staff have a chance to step out from the voluminous curriculum and cafeteria plans, to take a beat for their well-being.
