Earlier this morning, a joint law enforcement operation culminated in the dramatic arrest of Manuel Umana Solorzano, a 29-year-old El Salvadorian national residing in Milford, MA, wanted on severe allegations including child rape and child pornography, according to a post by the Milford Police Department. The operation was a coordinated effort involving Milford Police Detective Bureau, Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), and the US Marshals.
Observation of Umana Solorzano began in the early hours and at approximately 5:41 a.m., he was seen leaving his residence just before officers moved in to make the arrest he then initiated a foot chase, leading officers through the backyards of North Bow Street, in Milford. The pursuit came to an abrupt end when Umana Solorzano turned to engage a detective and reached toward his waistband, at which time he was tased and apprehended without further incident, far from the peaceful start of most days the community was shaken by the commotion.
Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino was quoted in the social media announcement: "Someone who is suspected of taking advantage of children will find no quarter in Milford. There will be no shelter, no safe haven, no sanctuary for people who are suspected of such crimes against children. My sincerest thanks to the Massachusetts State Police and the US Marshals for coordinating with our detectives in apprehending this suspected child predator." This statement underscores a hard-line stance on crimes against children
Umana Solorzano faces a slew of charges, including indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, possession of child pornography, reckless endangerment of a child, photograph sexual or intimate parts of a child, statutory rape of child, rape of child with force, lascivious pose/exhibit child in nude, and resisting arrest he is scheduled for arraignment at Milford District Court, demonstrating the gravity of the crimes he is alleged to have committed.
