The Tampa Convention Center has announced a significant staff promotion, with Erika O'Brien ascending to the role of Event Services Supervisor. With a solid history at the center and a hefty resume in event planning, O'Brien is set to take on her new responsibilities with an experienced hand. Having initially joined the team back in the Fall of 2019, her path through the organization has been marked by notable achievements and key contributions.
In her most recent position as an Accounts Executive, O'Brien played a critical part in the booking of major citywide events, with a particular focus on those emanating from the Mid-Atlantic region and within the sports market. O'Brien has to quickly adapt to the evolving demands of an industry that has witnessed considerable change in recent years, with her background in event planning for both a financial firm and the president of the University of South Florida lending her a diverse perspective on client needs and expectations.
Her promotion was announced via an official statement from the City of Tampa, where O'Brien expressed her readiness to collaborate with clients in bringing their events to life at the esteemed venue. The center, celebrated for its waterfront vistas and versatile space, is also recognized for its commitment to sustainability, boasting LEED Silver for Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M) Certification.
This year marks a milestone for the Tampa Convention Center, which is observing its 35th anniversary. The venue has accrued several awards to its name, such as the gold medal for Best Convention Center in the Southeast U.S. from the Northstar Stella Awards for two consecutive years.
