Motorists planning to navigate through Las Vegas this weekend should expect significant delays, particularly around I-215. The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has disseminated a public service announcement detailing an intense weekend of paving operations along a stretch of the interstate. Travelers will face reduced lanes and ramp closures as construction crews work to improve nearly four miles of I-215, from the I-15 interchange to Windmill Lane.
The project, called the 'Marathon Work Weekend,' began at 9:00 p.m. yesterday and is scheduled to run until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. During this period, eastbound I-215 will be reduced to one lane from I-15 to Windmill Lane, with the same restriction applying to westbound traffic starting at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. Drivers are advised to plan for delays and consider alternative routes to avoid expected congestion, according to the official annoucement.
To ensure a safe and timely completion, NDOT has planned intermittent closures affecting travelers throughout the week. Lane reductions will occur nightly from Sunday night through Thursday morning, between 8:00 p.m. and early morning hours. Eastbound traffic will be reduced to two lanes, with the westbound side experiencing similar restrictions, aiming to lessen the impact on weekday traffic.
Additional disruptions include the closure of ramps such as the eastbound Warm Springs Road on-ramp to westbound I-215, as well as multiple closures around the Airport Connector. These changes will require drivers to adjust to the temporary road conditions. More information is available on NDOT’s website for those seeking details on the upcoming changes.
Weather and other unforeseen factors may affect the schedule. Travelers are advised to check nvroads.com or call the state highway information line at (775) 888-7000 before starting their trips.
