Boating aficionados in Hillsborough County have 16 public boat ramps at their disposal, stretching from freshwater havens to the open sea. As reported on Hillsborough County's official website, these include popular spots like Edward Medard Conservation Park and Cockroach Bay, catering to a diverse array of watercraft, from modest jon boats to stately sailboats.
For those keen on freshwater pursuits, the ramps at Edward Medard Conservation Park, Riverview Civic Center, and others beckon with their quiet allure. Meanwhile, offshore enthusiasts can set sail from boat ramps at E.G. Simmons Conservation Park and Courtney Campbell among others. Launching fees at these sites are typically $5, with a slight $2 addition when embarking from conservation parks.
Recently completed renovations at the Gandy Boat Ramp, which cost $278,000, have rejuvenated one of the county’s most frequented launch sites. According to the same Hillsborough County announcement, the project, funded by fishing and boater registration fees, added new floating docks and gangways. With six lanes open, the ramp promises an efficient launch into Tampa Bay.
Positioned off Gandy Blvd, the upgraded "Salty" Sol Fleishman public boat ramp offers ample space with over 100 parking spots and large lanes, making it a prime spot for Tampa Bay access. Residents and visitors can now enjoy the improved amenities, which were finished in mid-August after about a month of construction.
