A tragic incident unfolded on an Oregon highway early Thursday morning when a collision between a car and a tractor resulted in one fatality. The crash, involving a Subaru Legacy and a Case International tractor, occurred on Highway 95 near milepost 47 in Malheur County, as reported by the Oregon State Police.
According to the Oregon State Police report, the Subaru, driven by 48-year-old Truckee resident Barry Thomas Hostler, was traveling northbound when it struck the rear of the slow-moving tractor; Jesse Dean White, the 67-year-old operator from Jordan Valley, surprisingly walked away uninjured despite the severity of the crash. Hostler, however, was pronounced dead at the scene, marking an abrupt and tragic end to his journey.
The accident had significant repercussions for local traffic, with the highway remaining closed for around three hours as investigations took place. Oregon State Police were not the only ones responding to the incident: they received assistance from both the Malheur County Sheriff's Office and ODOT in managing the scene and redirecting the disrupted flow of vehicles.
