
In a tragic incident last night, a shooting in the western area of Fayetteville claimed one life and left two individuals wounded. Police were called to the 7100 block of Chinoak Drive shortly before 7:40 p.m., where they discovered three victims of gunshot injuries, as reported by CBS17.
According to the dispatches, one victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center but was later pronounced dead. The Fayetteville Police Department remarked that "Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit are actively investigating the incident". The two other injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital, and police have confirmed that the extent of their injuries was not life-threatening, as detailed by ABC11. There has been no suspect apprehended in connection to the shooting at the time being.
The area around S. Reilly Road was cordoned off as part of the crime scene, with authorities combing through the scene to ascertain the circumstances that led up to this violent event. The shooting took place within a mobile home community, a site none would hastily associate with such acts of violence. The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of their families and further investigation.
Police are urgently investigating to piece together the sequence of events and are calling on anyone with information to come forward to assist.
