A new round of assistance for home repairs has been announced for individuals still piecing their lives back together. This comes as a significant aid for those who previously hit a wall with the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) Elevate Florida Grant program, according to the Hillsborough County.

The FMA program works on a reimbursement basis, meaning homeowners must pay all project costs upfront. It’s a highly competitive program, and the process—from submitting a Notice of Interest (NOI) to completing the project—can take anywhere from 5 to 10 years, as reported by the Hillsborough County.

To be considered for assistance, residents must submit their information directly to Hillsborough County, not to FDEM. The County, acting as a sub-applicant, will then forward the application to FDEM. To be eligible, a completed NOI form must be submitted to the County by August 18. The form should be emailed to [email protected]. Homeowners are responsible for filling out the project-specific details in the NOI, while County staff will complete the community-specific sections.
