The Ferguson community has recently unified to host a day of prayer and healing dedicated to the well-being of Officer Travis "T.J." Brown, who was critically injured a year ago during a protest. As reported by FOX2now, the event was conducted yesterday in the police department parking lot and included family, friends, faith leaders, and local neighbors. The gathering aimed to support Officer Brown, who has spent a substantial time in ICU, and to reiterate unity and solidarity within the community.
According to family statements shared by First Alert 4, Officer Brown's recovery has seen progress, albeit the path ahead remains long and challenging. The family conveyed optimism, having witnessed him begin to write messages and perform rehabilitative exercises.
During the gathering, Brown's father, Clyde Bailey, a retired St. Louis police sergeant, emotionally recounted, "He wrote the other day that 'I will walk again and I will run again,'" according STLtoday.
Ferguson’s Police Chief emphasized the importance of the day, suggesting it was a moment for all within Ferguson to righteously stand together. Echoing this sentiment, Mayor Ella Jones called upon the community to maintain their support through continual prayer for Brown and his family, in a quote obtained from STLtoday: "Continue to keep him in your prayers and continue to lift up this family," said Mayor Jones.
Approximately 100 city officials, members of the emergency services, and residents congregated outside the Ferguson Police Department to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to Brown's recovery.
