Late last month, six juvenile males robbed a cannabis dispensary on East Third Street, assaulting an employee before leaving with merchandise.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Facebook page, witnesses reported the suspects boarding a light rail train toward the Transit Center. Officers from the Providence and Central divisions, K9 units, and Professional Police Services, assisted by the Real Time Crime Center, located and apprehended five of the suspects. An airsoft pistol discarded by one suspect was also recovered. The five were interviewed and charged with common law robbery, conspiracy to commit common law robbery, and resist, delay, and obstruct.
One suspect was sent to the Juvenile Detention Center on an unrelated secure custody order, while the others were released to guardians. The sixth suspect, who initially escaped, was later identified through further investigation.
