FlightSafety International is gearing up to substantially expand its Arizona footprint with a new state-of-the-art Learning Center at Mesa Gateway Airport. This 100,000-square-foot facility is set to serve a rising demand for aviation training, highlighting the company's ongoing commitment to elevate the standards of aviation safety and readiness. Set to break ground in October, the center is on track to welcome trainees in early 2028, according to details released by MesaNow.
President of FlightSafety International, Barbara Telek, explained that this move is part of a strategic effort to not simply meet but to also actively anticipate the growing need for highly skilled aviation professionals. "This expansion is a reflection of FlightSafety’s continued growth and long-term investment in the future of aviation training and safety," Telek told MesaNow. The new facility is to include an array of full-flight simulators and advanced training devices meant to support pilots, maintenance technicians, and cabin crews.
The project is more than a boost for aviation safety – it's also a boon for the local economy. An estimated 100 new jobs are expected to emerge from the facility's opening, with additional positions likely as operations to expand over time. The influx of trainees yearly is set to stimulate tourism and benefit local businesses such as hotels and restaurants.
Lt. Governor Regina Antone of the Gila River Indian Community, and Chair of the Mesa Gateway Airport Authority Board, conveyed the regional impact of FlightSafety's decision. "This project will bring meaningful economic impact and reinforce Mesa’s leadership position in the global aviation landscape," Antone told MesaNow. Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman echoed this sentiment, welcoming FlightSafety and emphasizing the synergy of innovation, training excellence, and economic growth.
