Aspiring young minds in the Fort Worth area have a fresh opportunity to kickstart a journey in law enforcement as the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) announces open enrollment for its esteemed Police Explorer program. Starting July 1 and continuing through August 31, local youths are invited to apply to one of the top-rated programs of its kind in the North Texas region.
According to a social media post from the Fort Worth Police Department, this is the only time during the year when applications will be accepted. The program looks to imbibe, in its participants, a profound understanding of police work, nurturing skills that might, one day, bloom into full-fledged careers. They state, "Don’t miss out on your chance to join one the best Police Explorer programs in the North Texas area!"
This initiative offers an immersive experience where attendees can attend weekly meetings and participate in ride-alongs, community service events, and competitive events. Prospective explorers can look forward to gaining knowledge on the various aspects of police work, including but not limited to criminal law, patrol procedures, and crime scene investigation. It's a hands-on approach designed to provide a microcosm of the duties and responsibilities inherent to law enforcement, as well as important life lessons in leadership and teamwork.
For individuals eager to apply or seek further clarification about the program, the police department has designated Officer Rebecca Woodward and Officer Mary Beth Sisolak as points of contact. Their email addresses are made publicly available for queries or concerns at [email protected] and [email protected], respectively. Additionally, the FWPD Explorers maintain a presence on social media, particularly Facebook, where updates and information are regularly shared.
