The historic Will Rogers Coliseum is currently getting a facelift as it embarks on its first phase of a $50.5 million renovation project. The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo's venue is aiming to preserve its iconic status while ramping up to meet the modern demands of its patrons. According to the City of Fort Worth, the renovations have been fast-tracked since the start of 2025's Stock Show, with expectations to wrap up in late November.

Functioning continuously for nearly a century, the venue's wear and tear from the consistent stream of events is visible. The renovation plans, which hold high the venue's beloved historical feel, include a streamlined concourse with better sightlines, crucial updates to lighting, restrooms, and the replacement of outdated major systems. "This exciting project will transform the facility into a more open environment, giving our guests a greater feel for the excitement on the arena floor while maintaining the Coliseum’s nostalgic feel and look that they’ve always loved," said Stock Show President and General Manager Matt Carter, per the City of Fort Worth.

Improvements aren't just focused on the interior; they extend to the edifice itself. Plans include restoring the exterior to mirror the original Art Deco style, right down to the historical accuracy of the building's doors and the removal of non-original elements. Furthermore, a fresh outlook from the east side, along with new multipurpose rooms, is foreseen to bolster the building's external charm and functionality.

Financially, the city of Fort Worth is set to shoulder most of the costs, allocating $45.5 million, with the Stock Show organization contributing the remaining $5 million. The Stock Show is also managing the project, in conjunction with Sedalco Construction Services and the City’s Public Events Department staff. The undertakings represent the beginning of a plan that eyes several more renovations for the complex’s original structures ahead of their centennial celebration.
