The pavement on Palomino Boulevard is finally getting a makeover after considerable wear and tear – the kind of overhaul meant to tackle the deep-rooted issues residents have been grumbling about for years. Starting the week of August 11, locals can anticipate the commencement of the Palomino Boulevard Reconstruction Project, as confirmed by the Town of Fountain Hills official announcement.

Drivers and homeowners along the stretch might feel the pinch as concrete curbs get uprooted and fixed, a process beginning soon and possibly barricading a few driveways, but the town plans to give a heads up before any heavy machinery rolls in. Residents should be ready for some disruption, but the promise is a smoother, safer boulevard with the scheduled full-depth asphalt removal, fresh concrete, and the installation of new curbs between Palisades Boulevard and Fountain Hills Boulevard, a span measuring about 1.4 miles, according to the Town of Fountain Hills.

The road project in Fountain Hills is more than just new pavement. It includes removing about 50,000 square yards of old surface, repaving, fixing curbs and gutters, updating driveways, moving underground utilities, and adding ADA-compliant curb ramps. The goal is to make the area more walkable and wheelchair-friendly, as reported by the Town of Fountain Hills.

With a $5 million budget approved by the Town Council, the project also includes flattening a steep sidewalk and adding a new curb ramp on Fountain Hills Boulevard for a future pedestrian path to improve safety. While paving dates are still being planned, the town is focused on finding the most cost-effective way to move forward, as per the Town of Fountain Hills.
