The City of Garland's Public & Media Relations team has garnered top honors for its video content. The statement revealed that the team took home multiple accolades from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors. The national awards, announced in New Orleans, celebrate standout broadcast, cable, multimedia, and electronic programming created by local government bodies, according to an announcement released by the City of Garland.
With over 1,000 submissions from local governments nationwide, Garland stood out by receiving two first-place awards in the competitive landscape. These included top honors for Overall Excellence in the $300,000 to $500,000 Operating Budget category. This award recognizes a government access station's commitment to serving its community with a diverse range of locally produced shows. In the Parks & Recreation category, Garland's video featuring the Duck Creek Greenbelt mural, completed by local artist DRIGO, clinched first place.
The City's creative indulgence in humor also paid off with former Mayor Scott LeMay’s holiday video earning second place in the Use of Humor category. The viral "Die Hard" themed greeting resonated online with a wide audience, spreading holiday joy across digital platforms. Additionally, Garland's homage to Willie Nelson’s "Red Headed Stranger" on the famous album's 50th anniversary won them second place in the Social Media Short Form category.
The third award was given for the City's internal Leader Talk series, a monthly video initiative focusing on leadership development and strategies, which was recognized with a third-place finish in the Interview/Talk Show category. The city's official announcement lauded the efforts of Nick Gibson, Pedro Hernandez, and the entire video production team for their contribution to these successful projects.
