Residents of Germantown have something special to mark on their calendars as the 2025 Annual Neighborhood Summit is just around the corner. Slated for September 30 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., the Summit promises to bring together community members for an event emphasizing safety, creativity, and recognition of local leadership. The Great Hall & Conference Center will play host to the gathering, which is free to the public, according to a mayoral announcement made yesterday.
This year's theme, "Greetings From Germantown," aims to celebrate the city's focus on public safety and the arts. Germantown Police Department plans to provide insights into keeping neighborhoods secure, while Public Art and Design Manager, Cat Peña, will showcase Germantown's burgeoning public art scene. Alongside these presentations, the summit will feature the city's first traveling public mural, poised to tour and add vibrancy to the many corners of this predominantly residential area.
A centerpiece of the event will be the presentation of awards including Neighborhood of the Year, Neighborhood Leader of the Year, and Neighbor of the Year. Mayor Mike encouraged community members to nominate deserving individuals and groups, with the deadline for submissions set for September 11. Details and forms for nominations are accessible through the city's website.
An expo featuring city departments, neighborhood organizations, and local businesses will be part of the summit. Attendees can also look forward to complimentary refreshments, wine, and door prizes. While registration for the event is not mandatory, advanced sign-ups are appreciated and can be completed online. Businesses interested in supporting the event can still join as sponsors by filling out a sponsorship form provided by the City.
Mayor Mike, in his announcement, expressed excitement and appreciation for the community's engagement. "It is an honor to serve you as your Mayor," he said, highlighting the summit as a testament to Germantown's commitment to fostering stronger neighborhood ties. The full statement from Mayor Mike can be found on the city's official website.
