Germantown residents, it's your time to shine a light on the cornerstones of your community. The City's Annual Neighborhood Summit is gearing up to celebrate the best of the best in local community building and engagement, happening on September 30, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Great Hall & Conference Center. As reported on August 7th by Germantown's official website, this year's gathering, themed “Greetings From Germantown” is slated to be an informative and vibrant affair complete with speakers, complimentary food and beverages, and, of course, the awards that spotlight those individuals and groups dedicated to enriching their neighborhoods.
The call for nominations is officially open, offering a chance to commend the selflessness and initiative of outstanding neighbors and neighborhood leaders. Awards are up for grabs in three categories: Neighbor of the Year, Neighborhood Leader of the Year, and Neighborhood of the Year. Each carries its distinct honor – the Neighbor of the Year is meant for those who tirelessly work to enhance their immediate surroundings, while the Neighborhood Leader of the Year is a nod to someone whose leadership ripples through both neighborhood and community circles. Lastly, the Neighborhood of the Year prize is a recognition of an entire association's efforts toward bettering the quality of life through a plethora of initiatives.
Those interested in nominating their community heroes can find nomination forms available through links provided by the City. Germantown's announcement details the criteria for each award, encouraging residents to think about who in their neighborhood truly goes the extra mile, encapsulates leadership, or has positively transformed the community space. The winner for the Neighborhood of the Year will also receive the iconic “Neighborhood of the Year” sign, boasting their collective achievements at their neighborhood entrance.
Opportunities extend beyond accolades, though, with invites also out for local neighborhoods and business owners to be part of the summit experience. Whether it's showcasing your community at a booth or taking up the mantle of a summit sponsor, those wanting to participate are directed to get in touch with Erinn Figg, Community Engagement Coordinator, at [email protected] or by phone at (901) 757-7203. This level of involvement could provide a vital networking space as well as amplify the vibrant tapestry of Germantown's neighborhood scenes.
