Glendale is tuning up for another round of its Jewel City Concert Series, set to kick off later this fall with live performances every Saturday. Set amidst the pedestrian-friendly Artsakh Paseo at 127 Artsakh Avenue, the Glendale Library, Arts & Culture Department has curated an eclectic roster to echo the cultural tapestry of the city every weekend from September 27 through October 25, starting at 5 PM, as detailed by the City of Glendale.
Featuring a variety of genres that range from Armenian word jazz with TriosynThesis to the rock vibes of Marzoña, the series boasts a lineup intended to attract a diverse audience. In a city bustling with nearly 200,000 residents and a slew of public parks and facilities, it's the cultural events that often transform the urban landscape into a community hub. One such effort, as described by the Director of Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Lessa Pelayo-Lozada, "The Jewel City Concert Series is part of our ongoing commitment to enliven the Artsakh Paseo and create meaningful cultural experiences in Downtown Glendale," as told to the City of Glendale's news release.
Even with free admission, the series encourages visitors to explore the local shops and restaurants that give Downtown Glendale its character before the music begins. With no seating provided, attendees are asked to bring their chairs for the relaxed, hour-long, no-intermission performances, as per the City of Glendale. The lineup is as follows: September 27 – TriosynThesis with Armenian word jazz, October 4 – Low Poly Cactus with jazz fusion funk, October 11 – The Guest Room with indie pop/R&B, October 18 – Marzoña with rock, and October 25 – Maria De La Vega and the Wayward Five with jazz and blues.
