Houston residents can expect a bit of a mixed bag in the coming days when it comes to weather. According to a forecast from the National Weather Service, there's a 20 percent chance of brief showers and thunderstorms starting after 11 a.m. today, amidst a mostly sunny sky with highs teetering near 93 degrees. Wind patterns are expected to shift slightly with an east wind at 5 to 10 mph.
As the evening sets in, Houstonians might want to enjoy the mostly clear night with a low around 78, thanks to calming southeast winds. But an increased chance of rain is waiting to possibly interrupt midweek routines. Tomorrow brings a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m., with mostly sunny skies and a high near 94 degrees, as reported by the NWS.
Continuing with the trend, Thursday and Friday will bring their own chances of afternoon storms, with up to a 30 percent probability, and temperatures aiming to reach the mid-90s. However, the weekend hints at upping the ante, pushing a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms post-noon. And as anyone in Houston knows, the warmth refuses to relent, with daily highs persisting in the low 90s.
As Houston works its way through another steaming summer, KPRC 2 reminds residents to stay prepared for hurricane season. Tropical Storm Dexter has already been named the fourth storm of the Atlantic hurricane season and is, fortunately, moving east—away from the U.S.—as per an article by KPRC 2. "Make sure your family is prepared for whatever comes our way this hurricane season," the station advises, offering a resource with their 2025 Hurricane and Flood Survival Guide.
