A cherished locale at Findlay Market, French Crust Café & Bistro, is slated to permanently close this Sunday, as reported by FOX19. The establishment, recognized for imparting a Parisian experience, was inaugurated on Vine Street in 2013 and later expanded in 2016 to a fuller expression of its café and bistro format at Findlay Market. The cafe has provided a delightful backdrop for numerous weekend brunches and daily lunch gatherings over a span surpassing a decade.
Annette de Cavel, the owner of the deCavel Group, expressed the difficulty of the decision to shut down. "This was not an easy decision," she stated in a release outlined by Cincinnati.com, adding that the restaurants were part of a collective dream she built with her late husband, Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel. She emphasized her gratitude towards the community for their support and the memories created within the walls of French Crust.
While French Crust is preparing to serve its final brunch and lunch from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday, the deCavel Group will continue operating another establishment, Le Bar à Boeuf in East Walnut Hills, Annette de Cavel urged in an interview obtained by WLWT. She invited patrons who cherished French Crust to carry on the legacy and experience the offerings of Le Bar à Boeuf as a testament to her husband's creations.
Kelly Lanser, President & CEO of Findlay Market, shared her sentiments about the imminent closure, acknowledging the role that Jean-Robert de Cavel played in the market community. He patronized the annual fundraiser, supported local merchants, and was a favorite at the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade, she explained, per FOX19. Lanser expressed her gratitude to Annette and the French Crust team for their contribution to the city, remarking that the space they're leaving vacant is certain to have large shoes to fill.
To make their final reservations, customers are encouraged to contact 513-455-3720 or book through OpenTable to experience one last time the café that opens at 9:00 a.m. and the bistro operating from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., located at 1801 Elm St., as suggested by FOX19. With the closure of French Crust, an era of Parisian charm and culinary delight at Findlay Market comes to an end, leaving behind a legacy of delectable food and cherished community connections.
