Yuengling, a beer with roots tracing back to 1829, is finally making its way into Michigan watering holes and shelves, as reported by various local sources. Pottsville, Pennsylvania's famed brewery, is slated to start pouring on Aug. 11 in select cities, including Ann Arbor, Detroit, and East Lansing. With excited anticipation among beer enthusiasts, the initial rollout is just a preview of statewide availability, which is expected to follow. FOX 2 Detroit shared that tap offerings will feature Yuengling Lager, Yuengling Black & Tan, and the lower-calorie Yuengling Flight.
Beyond draft beer, Yuengling has intentions to stock Michigan stores with packaged products in September. A representative from O&W Inc., an Ypsilanti-based distributor, displays evident excitement about the launch. Jamie Wanty-Keeder, the company's vice president of marketing, expressed his enthusiasm, per CBS News Detroit, saying, "This launch is the most exciting beer launch in Michigan history! What a fantastic opportunity for us to expand our offerings and introduce our customers to a brewery with such a storied history, one that beer lovers have been waiting for."
Michigan's beer scene, with its already acknowledged diversity and vibrancy, seems poised to embrace Yuengling's arrival. The anticipated expansion beyond the initial cities is a sign of the growing demand for the historic Pennsylvania brewery's creations. For those looking to find the nearest tap dispensing Yuengling, a beer finder tool is available online. WXYZ encourages Michigan residents to inquire with local bars about when they'll start serving Yuengling if they're located outside of the initially targeted areas.
