Iredell County has turned a new chapter in its battle against the opioid epidemic by appointing Madison Duncan as the Opioid Settlement Program & Financial Administrator. Duncan steps into this role with a backdrop of countless lives overshadowed by the crisis—a challenge she's prepared to face with her deep public health expertise.
As confirmed by Iredell County, Duncan's portfolio will include leading the County’s maneuvers against opioid-related damage—managing both strategy and finances sourced from the National Opioid Settlement. A bachelor's degree in tow, along with a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of South Carolina, her qualifications hail from a career rich in program management and policy analysis.
"Madison brings a strong public health foundation and extensive program and grant management experience to this role," stated Caroline Taylor, Iredell County Finance Director, in a release. Reporting to Taylor, Duncan will not only marshal the financial administration of these critical funds, but also ensure synergy across departments such as the Health Department, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Sheriff’s Office, according to Iredell County.
Madison Duncan will work alongside the Strategy and Communications Manager to promote awareness and ensure transparency in Iredell County’s opioid initiatives. Previously, Duncan served as a program analyst with FEMA Region 4, where she supported the Flood Mitigation Assistance program, gaining experience in managing large-scale crisis response efforts.
