An officer-involved shooting that occurred last Saturday in Irving has prompted an investigation by local authorities. The incident, which took place in the early hours of the morning, resulted in the hospitalization of 25-year-old Arlington Fuentes-Murillo, who is now stable but has been charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, according to a social media post from the Irving Police Department.
The situation began when police were alerted to a suspicious person in the 1400 block of N. Nursery Rd. at approximately 3:34 A.M. Officers coordinated with the individual who reported the incident and initiated a search for the suspect. They soon encountered Fuentes-Murillo, who was found to be armed and allegedly refused to comply with the orders given by the police. In response, one officer fired their weapon, striking Fuentes-Murillo at least once. "Officers provided life-saving measures prior to the arrival of Irving Fire Medics," the Irving Police Department stated in the release.
Following the shooting, Fuentes-Murillo was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he has been receiving treatment for his injuries. The Irving Police Department has confirmed that, alongside the criminal investigation, an administrative probe into the shooting is underway to ensure all policies and procedures were observed. Moreover, the Dallas County Public Integrity Unit has taken on the responsibility of conducting an independent investigation.
