The unsolved homicide of 15-year-old Johnathen Carter, who was shot near Vista Avenue and Sunderland Road in 2016, remains under investigation as the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) renews its call for public assistance.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Facebook post, on July 6, 2016, officers found Johnathen with gunshot wounds. Investigators believe an altercation with an acquaintance led to the incident, but the suspect fled the scene and was never arrested.
The JSO Cold Case Unit is revisiting the case using updated forensic technology. Authorities emphasize that community information could help solve the case.
