Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Director of Patrol Mark Romano and Neptune Beach Police Chief Michael Key are participating in the ALS Association’s CEO Soak fundraiser. The event involves participants taking a dip in ice-cold water to raise funds for ALS research and patient support, according to a Facebook post by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Romano, taking part for his third year, is honoring the memory of Assistant Chief Jimmy Judge, who died from ALS. Chief Key challenged Romano to see which department can raise more funds and endure the cold longest.
The ALS Association’s CEO Soak aims to increase awareness and financial support for ALS. Both law enforcement leaders are encouraging community donations and involvement as they prepare for the upcoming event.
