A 69-year-old Jacksonville man died earlier today after crashing into a business on Beach Boulevard. The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. near Beach Boulevard and Beachwood Court, according to Action News Jax.

Troopers reported the man was driving a grey Ford Escape east in the westbound lanes before crossing the median into oncoming traffic.The SUV went off the road, through a parking lot, and into the front of Woodsman Kitchens and Floors at 11732 Beach Boulevard, as per the First Coast News report. The storefront was damaged, with plywood covering the broken window, tire marks across the lot, and debris from the vehicle, including a fender, left behind near the median.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The Florida Highway Patrol said he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved, the News4JAX reported. The investigators are working to determine what caused the crash.
