John F. Kennedy International Airport will introduce a permanent arts and culture installation as part of its $4.2 billion Terminal 6 redevelopment, according to announcements from JFK Millennium Partners and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The exhibit will be located in the international arrivals corridor and will involve contributions from several major New York cultural institutions, as reported by New Jersey Stage.

Participating organizations include the American Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Each will contribute installations reflecting their respective missions. According to CBS New York, the Met will feature an exhibit representing 5,000 years of art, and Lincoln Center will present a 140-foot mural. MoMA, in collaboration with Yoko Ono, will include an installation featuring the message “PEACE is POWER.”

“Each installation will reflect and celebrate the vibrant cultural heartbeat of New York as we welcome the world to JFK and beyond,” Steve Thody, CEO of JFK Millennium Partners, told New Jersey Stage. The initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance the passenger experience at JFK while aligning with standards achieved at other recently redeveloped New York airports. The new Terminal 6 will also feature rotating works by six Queens-based artists, coordinated through the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning.

Often referred to as “museum row,” the space is designed to blend cultural displays with the terminal’s modern infrastructure, which includes larger gates, expanded drop-off zones, enhanced TSA and baggage systems, and upgraded passenger lounges. As noted by CBS New York, the Port Authority aims for the new terminal to rank among the best in the world.

Terminal 6 will serve both domestic and international flights, with a phased opening scheduled to begin in 2026 and full completion expected by 2028.
