Members of Keller's public safety teams, including Keller Fire-Rescue and Keller Police, alongside the local Community Emergency Response Team, had the opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills under the guidance of retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Scott Huesing last Friday. Huesing, who served 24 years with distinction and has been deployed 10 times, shared his extensive experience in leadership, as per Keller Public Safety's social media account.
During the workshop, Huesing emphasized the importance of leading by example rather than relying strictly on positions of authority, his approach resonating with an audience trained to respond to crises where hierarchy can both serve and obstruct swift action. According to the social media post from Keller Public Safety, Huesing imparted, "real leadership is about action, not rank," a philosophy that looks to galvanize those in service to lead with conviction and integrity even when orders and directives leave the room. The event aimed at fostering a collaborative spirit and engendering mutual respect between the various branches of local emergency services.
This gathering reflects an ongoing commitment by Keller Public Safety to invest in its personnel, ensuring they are not only equipped with tactical skills but also with the leadership capabilities necessary to navigate the demanding and often chaotic landscape of public safety. It underscores a belief in continuous personal development as a cornerstone of effective community service.
