Kingsport Cultural Arts is introducing free mobile art classes for students in grades 1 through 12 during September at the V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex. The initiative is funded by an Arts Education Community Learning grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission and aims to make art education more accessible to young learners in the community.

According to the City of Kingsport website, the classes are organized by grade level and subject focus. Students in grades 1–4 can join Colors and Creativity on September 11, 18, and 25 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Those in grades 5–8 can take part in Shadows and Shading on September 12, 19, and 26 during the same hours. High school students, grades 9–12, are scheduled for Plein Air Painting on September 8, 15, and 22 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

According to Program Leader Linore Huss, the grant makes it possible to provide free art classes and eliminate obstacles for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate. Kingsport Cultural Arts, working with the City of Kingsport and supported by the Tennessee Arts Commission, intends to continue these programs in the future. Registration details for the September classes are available on the Kingsport Cultural Arts website.
