The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department will offer a skateboarding intro course for children at the Scott Adams Memorial Skatepark. Sessions will be held every Wednesday from September 3 to October 1, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to the City of Kingsport.

Local children ages 6 to 12 can join a skateboarding program for $30 for residents and $35 for non-residents. The program is limited to 10 participants and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis through the CivicRec link on the Connect Kingsport app or the city’s website. "Skateboarding is an exciting and unique sport, but we recognize it can be challenging for some of our younger children to pick up," said Laura Williams, Program Administrator. The program provides a safe and supportive environment for learning, as reported by the City of Kingsport.

Kingsport is offering a skateboarding course for kids to learn the basics, including getting airborne, balancing, and cruising. Parents are asked to stay during classes while children practice ollies and grinds with professional instructors. Kids should bring their own skateboards, and helmets and pads are likely required. "Through this program though, our instructors will get children started on the right path towards proper and safe skateboarding," as stated by the City of Kingsport.
