The Los Angeles Police Department is actively seeking information related to a fatal hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a man in his mid-30s last week. According to a statement released by the LAPD, the collision took place on Victory Boulevard west of Belmar Avenue last Friday evening. The victim, described as a male Hispanic, was hit by a black compact SUV while exiting his parked vehicle. Tragically, the paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The hit-and-run driver is reported to have continued driving westbound after the collision. Details shared by the LAPD describe the suspect vehicle as a black compact SUV, which was seen to abruptly veer to the right before striking the pedestrian and then proceeded to turn northbound on Corbin Avenue. Authorities are urgently appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity around 8:05 p.m. on that fateful day to quickly come forward with any potentially helpful information.
The decedent's identity is currently being withheld, pending the notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. The LAPD’s Valley Traffic Detectives are rigorously investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. The vehicle and the driver involved in the incident have yet to be located.
A reward of up to $50,000 is available for community members who can provide information leading to the identification and capture of the responsible individual. This initiative is backed by a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund, established by the City Council in 2015. Detectives Otrosina and Martinez of the Valley Traffic Division are the primary contacts for anyone ready to furnish information that could close this case.
