Early Monday morning, a residential fire inflicted damage on a home along Silverado Loop in Las Cruces, disrupting the tranquility of the neighborhood. Just before 1 a.m., firefighters from the Las Cruces Fire Department were called to the scene, facing a blaze that had engulfed part of a home. As reported by the City of Las Cruces, the first engine arrived promptly, within rapid moments from the dispatch, which allowed firefighters to confront the blaze.
The trained personnel, arriving at the scene, encountered flames spewing from the structure. The home's attic was involved in the fire, as stated by the interior crews following an initial knockdown. Despite the hydrant near the home presenting with low pressure, complicating matters with initial water issues, the crews managed to thwart these challenges expeditiously. The fast action prevented the fire from ravaging the entire building, according to the City of Las Cruces.
Local Las Cruces police officers aided a homeowner in escaping the imminent danger, who required help after being forced to exit through the back door and confronting locked side gates. Fortunately, the incident did not result in any injuries. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this point, as it still sits heavy in the hands of the investigators, and the cost of the damage to the residence has yet to be calculated.
