A Las Vegas man has found himself on the wrong side of the law after his indictment for an armed robbery that occurred last month. Devonte Devon Jackson, who was apprehended in Texas, was charged with robbery and firearm offenses following an incident outside a Las Vegas bank involving an armored truck.
At his initial appearance in court yesterday, Jackson faced a one-count of interference with commerce by robbery and another count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. The trial date has been set to tentatively begin on October 20, 2025. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Jackson stands accused of having brandished a handgun to quickly steal an estimated $327,620 on July 16.
Following the robbery, Jackson's freedom was shortly-lived as he was arrested by Texas State Troopers on July 29, in Centerville, Texas. He was then extradited to Las Vegas to face the federal charges laid against him. If convicted, Jackson could be looking at up to 20 years in prison for the interference charge and a mandatory seven years for the firearm offense, to be served consecutively.
The case is being overseen by United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada and Acting Special Agent in Charge Jeremy Schwartz for the FBI Las Vegas Division, who jointly announced the indictment. Assistant United States Attorney Tina M. Snellings is set to prosecute, as per the information provided by the U.S. Attorney's Office. Authorities have reminded the public that an indictment is an allegation and that Jackson is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
