Residents of Lewisville and civic-minded folks have an opportunity to get a close look at where their tax dollars might be going next year. The City Council held its annual budget workshop this past weekend, gathering in the lower level of Lewisville City Hall for an in-depth session on fiscal matters. According to the City of Lewisville, the workshop ran from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. yesterday at 151 W. Church Street.
The session, which was open for public viewing, provided a platform for citizens to better understand proposed allocations and the workings behind the municipal curtain. Later in August and September, public meetings will follow where the council will vote on the budget, property tax rate, and water/wastewater rates. By attending these meetings in person, the public can immerse themselves in the city's financial planning process.
In this digital age, accessibility is key, so the event was also broadcast live for those unable to attend in person. Thanks to the City of Lewisville’s initiative, the day-long workshop was livestreamed on their YouTube channel, offering a convenient window into the proceedings for the wider community.
