Lewisville residents have a date with their City Council coming up, as the body is set to discuss the city's financial blueprint for the upcoming year. According to the City of Lewisville, the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget will be on the docket during the City Council meeting on Sept. 8, in the Lewisville City Hall Council Chambers. The proposed $142 million General Fund operating budget is on the table, including changes to the property tax rate, which, dropping to .419009 per $100 valuation, marks the lowest in three decades.
With property taxes seeing a decrease, the City Council is balancing the books with an uptick in utility rates—a significant 7.4 percent jump. An additional public hearing, this time specifically on the property tax rate itself, is set for the following week during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting on Sept. 15. These changes come as Lewisville continues to boast one of the lowest property tax rates in North Texas, maintaining its appeal for homeowners and businesses alike.
Transparency is key, and the city has made the proposed budget available for public review on the Annual Budget page of the city's website, as well as at the City Secretary's Office and the Lewisville Public Library during regular opening hours.
