Loudon County, TN is taking proactive steps to bolster the safety of its students and faculty with recent efforts to synchronize the protocols between teachers and first responders in the event of an active shooter incident. In a full-scale drill last week, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office joined forces with local educators and multiple agencies to conduct comprehensive active shooter response training at Loudon High School.

According to a social media post from the Loudon County Sheriff's Office, all teachers in the county's school system participated, working closely with sheriff’s deputies to strengthen their readiness and ability to operate as a cohesive unit in the event of a critical incident. Their efforts were supported by a range of additional agencies that also contributed to the joint preparedness initiative.

“Protecting our schools takes all of us working together. By training alongside educators and first responders, we’re building the confidence, skills, and teamwork needed to keep our children safe," declared Sheriff Jimmy Davis in a Facebook post. Among the local groups pitching in were the Lenoir City Fire Department, Lenoir City Police Department, Loudon County Dispatch, Loudon County Emergency Management Agency, Loudon Police Department, Priority Ambulance Service, Tellico Village Fire Department, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and Tennessee Homeland Security.
