Sizing up the industry’s monetary muscle, the latest bulletin from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce places Massachusetts at the pinnacle in terms of the outdoor recreation sector’s expansion as a fraction of state GDP and corresponding employment concentration. Impressively, the sphere has poured $1.1 trillion into the U.S economy with a hefty $564 billion value added – a clear testament to its significance. Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper remarked, “Our investments in public lands and outdoor recreation are paying off big."
