Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has officially announced the appointment of Matthew Todd Chesbro as Associate District Judge for Tulsa County. Chesbro, an Oklahoma native and former Special Judge for the Tulsa County District Court, is known for his extensive experience in prosecuting violent crimes. In a brief statement obtained by the Office of Governor J. Kevin Stitt, Stitt praised the new appointee, stating, "Judge Chesbro is a no-nonsense, law-and-order judge who will bring justice in Tulsa County."
During his professional tenure, Chesbro has built a reputation for his to decisively put violent criminals behind bars and for advocating on behalf of victims. His commitment to law enforcement is articulated through clear actions and upheld convictions. In his most recent role, Chesbro served as a Special Judge, following a near 15-year stint as an Assistant District Attorney in Tulsa and Rogers County district attorney offices. "He’s spent years putting violent criminals behind bars because he understands the law, respects victims, and won’t tolerate chaos in our communities," Office of Governor J. Kevin Stitt noted, expressing strong confidence in Chesbro's abilities.
For his part, Chesbro expressed gratitude for his new position. "I’m honored to serve the people of Tulsa County and am grateful for the trust Governor Stitt has placed in me," Judge Chesbro shared, ensuring that he plans to "approach the role with fairness, integrity, and respect for the law," as stated by the Office of Governor J. Beyond the realm of law, Chesbro has also made his mark as an athlete. He distinguished himself as a standout wrestler at Oklahoma State University, clinching the NCAA All-American title three times, earning the 1992 NCAA runner-up spot, and contributing to two NCAA national championship teams. His athletic prowess further led to an induction as an Outstanding American by the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, as reported by the Office of Governor J. Kevin Stitt.
Matthew Todd Chesbro embarked on his legal profession after receiving a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Oklahoma State University and then a law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
