Rozelle Elementary, situated in the Memphis-Shelby County Schools district, has just been spotlighted on a national level. The school was named a National Certified Magnet School by Magnet Schools of America. Rozelle has the distinction of being the first in the MSCS to receive this honor, signaling a nod to its strong commitment to arts integration, student empowerment, and an inclusive atmosphere.
Already recognized for its combination of academic seriousness and artistic ingenuity, Rozelle has previously garnered awards such as the Tennessee Arts Academy Arts-Rich Elementary School of the Year and a Model School designation for its notable arts education practices. According to a statement obtained by SCSK12.org, they were also christened a Magnet School of Distinction and claimed the title of a Level 5 Reward School in 2022 for impressive student growth metrics.
This latest achievement adds to Rozelle's garnished résumé of accolades and underscores the commitment the faculty and staff have to fostering a rich educational environment. Dr. Taurus Hines, Rozelle's principal, captured the sentiment of triumph and purpose in light of the achievement. "This honor affirms what Rozelle stands for: a place where creativity is cultivated, achievement is expected, and every child is seen as a leader in the making," Dr. Hines told SCSK12.org. "Being named a National Certified Magnet School reflects the legacy we are building, one where the arts and academics are not separate lanes, but a shared highway to greatness."
