Heads up, mid-Missouri drivers: expect a few delays and detours this coming week, as MoDOT is rolling out some heavy-duty construction and maintenance work across multiple counties. According to a recent release by MoDOT, the grind begins next Monday and runs through Sunday – and it's all dependent on the temperament of Mother Nature, since poor weather could shuffle the schedule.
The bulk of the work will be scattered stretching across the region, encompassing everything from pothole patching, to pavement resurfacing, and even bridge rehab. All counties will be affected by these maintenance endeavours, and MoDOT reminds us to be on the lookout for slow-moving equipment. Lane closures are anticipated, which, naturally may cause some travel delays. Over in Boone County for instance, projects like pedestrian facility upgrades on Route TT and pavement resurfacing on Route WW are expected to march on into late August – sometimes necessitating single-lane closures.
It's not just the standard fare either; more complex developments are underway too. A roundabout is materializing at the intersection of Route K and Old Plank Road in Columbia, purposed with easing traffic woes, and similar work is also in progress over at the Route 87 and Route C intersection in Moniteau County, each with anticipated completions in December and November 2025 respectively. And if you're zipping by U.S. Route 63, be prepared for the long-haul improvement projects, where lane restrictions and reduced speeds won't be clearing up until November 2026.
But, the construction beat marches on in other areas too. Callaway County pavement repairs on Missouri Route 94 and Route J's pedestrian facility upgrades are set to wrap up in the next week, while the South Outer Road 70 remains shut tight until February 2026 for a culvert replacement project. For commuters in Crawford County, roadside work near mile markers 208 and 210 on I44 is scheduled, during the same period.
