Moreover, the METRO Blue Line's Lake Street/Midtown Station is on deck for a renovation to improve accessibility with ramps, better elevators, and more spacious stairways, while the city also gears up for a pedestrian mall near 3744 Chicago Avenue—known to many as The Peoples’ Way—with a community open house slated for Aug. 19, according to the City of Minneapolis newsletter. The logistics are complex, covering design, maintenance, deliveries, and emergency access, aiming for a proposed ordinance.
The city also welcomed a new public health specialist focused on harm reduction, largely catering to the demanding task of syringe clean-up, an urgent need underscored by how needle litter has barred children from local play areas.
