Minneapolis streets witnessed a different kind of foot traffic recently when a man took his frustrations out on a police vehicle. The Minneapolis Police Department reported that their officers spotted a man through surveillance, assaulting another individual near 4th Avenue North. He then moved to make an automobile his victim.
Proceeding to head north on 1st Avenue, the perpetrator climbed atop an unoccupied police squad car and began to act out his defiance by stomping and jumping on the vehicle's roof. His aggressive display didn't stop until he had leapt onto the windshield, shattering it and causing substantial damage. The cost to repair the police car is estimated to reach nearly $6,000, a financial blowback to taxpayers who fund city resources.
However, the Minneapolis Police Department was quick to respond to the incident. "Thanks to the quick work of our officers, the suspect was located and arrested," the Department stated in a social media post. The officers' rapid reaction led to the apprehension of the suspect, a reminder that this level of vandalism won't go unchecked in the city.
