Following a meticulous investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service, Malcolm Kohn,a suspect in a Mississippi murder case, has been apprehended in Memphis, Tennessee. Kohn was wanted for the shooting of Joshua Brewer on August 4, which resulted in Brewer's death after he was transported to a local hospital for gunshot wounds. A warrant for Kohn's arrest was swiftly issued the next day, according to U.S. Marshals Service's press release.

The U.S. Marshals' Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force took on the case, and their investigation suggested that Kohn may have been hiding out in Memphis. The Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF), based in Western Tennessee, were then called to join the efforts, in collaboration with the Memphis Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Team. Yesterday, they descended on a residence in the 900 block of Greer Street, where Kohn was discovered concealing himself under a bed and, initially refused to comply with officers' commands to surrender.

An assist from K-9 Marko turned the tides, resulting in Kohn giving up without further incident. He is currently held at the Shelby County Jail, where he awaits extradition back to Mississippi to face charges for the murder of Brewer. The TRVFTF, a multi-agency task force, boasts over 3,000 captures of violent offenders and sexual predators since its inception in 2021. The task force is a collaboration of local law enforcement from Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, and Gibson counties, along with state correctional agents and highway patrol.

The capture of Malcolm Kohn underscores the continued efforts by the U.S. Marshals Service and local law enforcement partnerships, to track down individuals accused of violent crimes and to provide a measure of justice to the victims' families.
