Modesto's streets are getting a tad safer today, thanks to the concerted efforts of local law enforcement. The Modesto Police Department, in collaboration with neighboring agencies, is deploying its CITE Team to key areas across the city, focusing on traffic safety and ensuring that road users keep to the letter of the law.
School zones are first on the list this morning, as officers work to guarantee the secure arrival of children to their classrooms. A recent social media post by the Modesto Police Department urges drivers to "slow down, watch for pedestrians, and use extra caution during drop-off times." But the effort does not stop there.
Once the morning school rush subsides, the CITE Team, alongside their partners from the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, Turlock PD, and Oakdale PD, will expand their scope to various citywide hotspots. Attention will be intensified in the Woodland Neighborhood, particularly looking out for stop sign violations at Rosemore & Chaparral. Moving along, they'll crack down on distracted driving on Tully Road and keep a vigilant eye out for speedsters cruising down Oakdale Road. Yosemite Blvd will not be ignored either, as it has been a stage for "too many serious incidents" related to pedestrian safety, as noted by the Modesto Police Department.
The ultimate goal of the operation is simple and clearly stated by the Modesto Police Department: "make the roads safer for everyone." The message is warmly toned with an invitation for a "friendly wave," although they caution to do so while keeping "hands free and eyes on the road." It's an expansive effort that speaks to the ongoing initiative to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities in the bustling Central Valley city. For local residents and commuters, today might just be a good day to practice extra mindfulness on the streets. After all, the officers will "see you out there," in their quest to uphold the safety of Modesto's thoroughfares.
