A tragic accident on Thursday morning left a local motorcyclist dead in northeast Charlotte, officials confirmed. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol identified the victim as 24-year-old Mycle Ryan Bruce. According to WBTV, the crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. on the off-ramp from Interstate 85 South to Interstate 485 Inner, Exit 48, where Bruce's red Harley-Davidson veered off the road.
Troopers reported the motorcycle ran off the right side of the ramp, subsequently went up the bridge embankment, and upon striking a ditch, it overturned. In an unfortunate turn of events, Bruce was thrown from his motorcycle and succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The ramp was subsequently shut down for hours to allow for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the wreck, QC News reported.
The impact of the crash was severe enough to eject Bruce from the bike, ultimately leading to his death from the injuries incurred. A statement from the Highway Patrol detailed that the motorcycle ended up overturned, with Bruce coming to rest on the embankment, WCNC relayed the sad news.
While the investigation into the deadly incident is ongoing, the Highway Patrol has not released further details. The ramp where the accident took place was reopened around 10 a.m., roughly after investigations had closed the site for several hours.
