
Last Thursday, the Napa Police Department rushed to a reported shooting under Maxwell Bridge at 900 West Imola Avenue. They found a 23-year-old male with severe but not critical injuries in the parking lot of a CVS at 291 South Coombs Street. According to a press release from the Napa Police Department, detectives took over the investigation at the crime scene, and later the victim was taken to a local hospital; he is stable and has been released.
During their investigation, detectives found evidence that pointed to Jaime Lisandro Lopez-Barajas as the suspect. Detectives quickly located Lopez-Barajas near the 600 block of South Jefferson Street. On seeing the officers, he tried to run away swiftly but was eventually apprehended after a pursuit on foot. As described in the city's official press release, Lopez-Barajas was then interviewed and booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections on several charges, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
The specific charges for Lopez-Barajas include attempted murder, which is a felony under California's Penal Code 664/187 PC, and assault with a deadly weapon - firearm, denoted by 245(a)(2) PC, also a felony. He faces an additional misdemeanor charge for resisting and obstructing a police officer, under 148(a)(1) PC.
The Napa Police Department has not released further details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. They have, however, issued a call for any additional information connected to this incident.
